The ritual of folding dumplings is a shared experience for Asian women who labor together, across generations, communities, and cultures. Making hundreds of porcelain dumplings alone is a meditation on the artist’s relationship to her cultural history and Americans' relationship to Chinese food.
The project also includes painted stoneware sculptures of condiments and packaged foods from the Asian-American kitchens of the 80s and 90s. You can see them on Instagram.
